Not here

Naval Establishments on the Mainland.

Victualling Depot.

Torpedo stores and workshops.

Boat and timber stores.

Boat basin.

Coaling sheds.

Oil Fuel Tanks (2400 tons) and Jetty.

Coal lighter basin (especially useful as a

Typhoon shelter).

Torpedo workshop and range at Lai Chi Kok.

The total area occupied is about 23 acres.

In addition there is a Range Finding Mast on Tai Mo Shan

Mountain, and another one further eastward.

These are all integral parts of a Naval base and provide

facilities which are essential to the Fleet.

The naval do ckyard at Victoria is already fully occupied

and contains no space available in which the establishments on

the mainland could be accommodated.

The areas enclosed by the breakwaters at the Kowloon Naval

Yard and Fuelling Depots are the only typhoon refuges for naval

small craft and boats as the basin in the Naval Yard at Victoria

is dangerous for small craft during a typhoon.

A plan of naval areas on the mainland is attached.
